Afrikaans dropped most of the hard parts of its Dutch ancestor. No verb endings by person, no grammatical gender, one simple past tense.

One form of every verb
The present tense never changes with the person.
Ek eet. Jy eet. Hy eet. Ons eet. Hulle eet.
Two articles, no gender
'die' is 'the'. 'n is 'a'. There is no masculine or feminine.
die huis (the house)'n huis (a house)
